Sparkling Wine

Sparkling wine is an alcoholic beverage with significant levels of carbon dioxide, which is the source of the “sparkling” carbonation. The carbon dioxide may have a natural fermentation, either in a bottle or in a container type barrel which is designed to withstand significant pressure as in the Charmat process.

The United States is a major producer of many sparkling wine varieties such as the every popular Rose sparklers and the white fruitier flavors. France is the ultimate source for sparkling beverages, however, California and Oregon have most recently been added to the must try category.

The United Kingdom has entered the sparkling beverage platform, however, the limited growing times and weather conditions will most likely keep them from overtaking the French.
