Rum
Rum is a strong liquor that is made from sugarcane. The by-products, such as molasses and sugarcane juice, are fermented, distilled and then aged in oak barrels. Most rum comes from the Caribbean and several South American countries, such as Columbia, Venezuela and Brazil. However, there are rum producers in other parts of the world as well, such as Australia and India.
Rum can be consumed in a variety of ways. It can be mixed with juices, sodas, and other liquors. Rum comes in a variety of styles. Light rums are clear in color and delightful when used in cocktails. Premium brands of rum can be consumed straight, or on the rocks. Golden and dark rums, rums that have a dark brown color, are best for drinking straight. Also they can be used to jazz up a variety of recipes.
