Armagnac, or eau de vie, is a specific kind of brandy that is produced with the identical grapes that are utilized in the production of cognac. The aging process is completed in genuine oak barrels and is distilled only one time using less alcohol content, thus retaining the fruitful flavor more so than its drinking cousin, cognac.
Armagnac is a strong rival for cognac; however, for every 100 bottles of cognac sold worldwide, there are only six to seven bottles of Armagnac sold. The name Armagnac is named after its place of origination, that being the Armagnac region of France.
