Banderas Reserve Chardonnay

Available from Sainsbury’s for £5.99.
Peachy, baby… peachy. Oh, and pineapply too. It’s big, it’s very rich and it’s powerful. And that is just the aroma. The palate is a little more restrained or rather it has all the forcefulness of the aroma tempered with a little zip and pizazz.

If you like your Chardonnay’s big and bordering on the overly rich then this offers a big bang for your bucks. Intense, oaky, high alcohol but also smooth, rounded with plenty of flavour. The acidity adds a much need dash of zippiness. There is a hint of vegetal complexity on the finish. Alcohol 13.5%.

Really benefits from some cream-lashed food - Chicken thighs in a cream and leek sauce for example.
Scribblings Rating - 88/100 [3.5 out of 5]
